Brentwood is one of the oldest and most exclusive residential areas of Los Angeles.  First settled back in the 1880s, Brentwood is situated immediately north of Santa Monica, with easy access to the 405 freeway and just a short distance from the ocean.  It is worth noting that Brentwood has one of the lowest population densities in Los Angeles, so it's no surprise that privacy, peace, and quiet are highly valued by Brentwood residents.  Much of the neighborhood covers the canyons and hills at the base of the Santa Monica mountains, so many homes enjoy fantastic views of the sprawling city below.  While the most exclusive homes are typically located in the higher elevations to the north, many other properties such as condos can be found in the southern areas.

The famous Getty Museum is located on the eastern edge of the neighborhood, but otherwise Brentwood has few tourist attractions and commercial areas, which allows it to maintain a decidedly quiet, residential atmosphere.  However, a number of cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, and other amenities can be found around San Vicente Boulevard along the southern edge of Brentwood.  The neighborhood also hosts the Brentwood Village Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings.  There is excellent hiking and recreation in Brentwood, especially in Mandeville Canyon, which offers hiking with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.  Crestwood Hills Park is located in the northern part of the neighborhood.

Brentwood has many excellent schools, such as Kenter Canyon Elementary and Paul Revere Middle School, both of which are LAUSD charter schools; University High and Palisades Charter High are also nearby.  Private schools in Brentwood include the Archer School for Girls, Brentwood School, andthe Mirman School.  UCLA and the busy Westwood neighborhood are just a few miles from Brentwood, and the tony Brentwood Country Club features tennis and 18-hole golf.  Santa Monica and Century City can be reached in as little as ten to fifteen minutes.  As one of the most exclusive and desirable parts of Los Angeles, Brentwood promises a quality of life that is unmatched.
